The Master of Environmental Education is offered jointly by the Graduate School of the Environment and the Department of Education. This program explores the role and scope of education in the attainment of environmental and sustainable development goals. Students will learn to identify principles of good practice in order to plan and evaluate programs in environmental education and education for sustainable development. Emphasis is also placed on the communication and interpretation process, and effective communication techniques at various local, national and international levels, within formal, informal and non-formal education.

This program addresses the needs of education and environmental professionals seeking to diversify their career. Graduates from the GSE will develop skills and knowledge that are highly regarded by both employers and the community. Students will gain an improved understanding of environmental education and its application relevant at local, national and international levels. Graduates are suitably qualified for work with government agencies, private education and development companies, NGOs, school based educators and international bodies.

These are wide-ranging and cover all levels of the government sector, museums, NGOs, community organizations and the corporate world. There are many opportunities where awareness of sustainable environmental practice needs to be raised.

The basic admission qualification is the completion of a recognised Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
