Macquarie University offers a wide range of scholarships that not only generously reward students who have demonstrated academic excellence, there are also a wide range of equity scholarships. Each year Macquarie University awards over $2 million in scholarships. In addition to the University scholarships many faculties also provide scholarships for students.
Faculty of Science
Biology Summer Research Experience Scholarships
These scholarships are available on academic merit to students enrolled in biology undergraduate programs. The purpose of the scholarships is to provide project-based work experience opportunities during the summer vacation.
The scholarships are valued at $275 per week for 2–10 weeks depending on the duration of the student’s work experience project.

Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences Vacation Research Scholarship
These scholarships are open to Biomolecular Sciences and Chemistry undergraduate students. They are available during the summer period (December – February) for four weeks, with extensions available by negotiation with individual lecturers. Applications are ranked on the basis of academic merit. The scholarships provide the opportunity for undergraduate students at any level to participate in cutting-edge research. Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students enrolling in a Bachelor degree with a Major in either Biomolecular Sciences or Chemistry. It is valued at $1000 per year and is available for up to three years subject to satisfactory progress. Le Fevre Scholarship in Chemistry
This scholarship is available to full-time students undertaking a Bachelor degree with a Major in Chemistry. Scholarship recipients will be required to enrol in the following units during the period of the scholarship:
Year 1: CBMS102, CBMS103
Year 2: CBMS204, CBMS207, CBMS208
Year 3: 18 credit points of CBMS units and meet the requirements of
the Major in Chemistry.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit in the HSC. It is tenable for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, at the following rates: $2000 in the first year, $2100 in the second year
and $2200 in the third year of the scholarship.

Doris Wallent Scholarship in Mathematics
One scholarship will be awarded for excellence in mathematics in the NSW/ACT HSC to a first-year student enrolled in the units MATH132 and MATH133 in 2010.

Optus Engineering Scholarships
Optus is providing two scholarships for students enrolling into the Bachelor of Engineering at Macquarie University for 2010. These scholarships are worth $5000 per year for each of the four years throughout the degree.
As a part of this scholarship you will have the opportunity to undergo paid work with Optus for a minimum of 12 weeks through your degree. This will contribute to the work experience requirements for graduates as outlined by Engineers Australia. Anyone applying to enrol in first year engineering at Macquarie University in 2010 may apply for the Optus scholarship. The criteria for short-listing will be based on a CV and letter of application followed by an interview with Optus staff. The scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis.
